Advance your bookkeeping studies with this qualification. On completion, you will be able to:

  • perform all monthly and annual bookkeeping functions
  • account for asset disposals
  • do year-end adjustments
  • apply International Financial Reporting Standards for SMMEs
  • manage branch accounts
  • analyse financial statements

  • complete basic cost and management accounts

Successful learners can continue with studies towards the NQF Level 5 Diploma: Technical Financial Accounting and the NQF Level 6 National Diploma: Financial Accounting.

The ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) is a professional body that offers a range of internationally-recognised qualifications in bookkeeping, accounting and financial management. These qualifications are structured in progressive levels, allowing you to complete more advanced qualifications in your own time, and as you gain experience and expertise.

Course Outline

This qualification consists of two modules.

Financial Statements (48 hours, 12 weeks part-time)
Get the skills for depreciable asset disposal, year-end adjustments, preparation and analysis of financial statements for sole proprietorships, partnerships, close corporations and companies. This module also includes a comprehensive study of cash flow statements.

Cost and Management Accounting (48 hours, 12 weeks part-time)
Learn how to do accounting for a manufacturing concern, break even analysis, cost-volume-profit analysis, budgeting and standard costing, financial management and business ethics.

Accreditation and Certification

On successful completion of each module, you will receive an ICB Results Letter for that subject outlining the unit standards covered and the competencies achieved.

On successful completion of both modules, the ICB will apply to FASSET to award you the Further Education & Training Certificate: Bookkeeping (NQF Level 4, SAQA ID 58376).
